A Message from Lacey Township and Meadowbrook Industries, our Trash Contractor, regarding Curbside Trash Collection:

Curbside Trash and Recycling Services are still operational in Lacey Township. 

***This is a Reminder of an Established & Adopted Ordinance***

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic that we are experiencing, Lacey Township & Meadowbrook Industries are requiring that all household trash must be placed in a covered, airtight container. The use of plastic bags outside a covered can ONLY be used for yard waste.

All recycling must be placed in a covered, airtight container. The use of plastic bags is prohibited for recyclables.

Failure to adhere this requirement will result in your trash/recycling not being collected and FINES WILL BE ISSUED.

Residents may bring their recyclables to our location at any time throughout the year during the following hours:

Monday thru Friday - 7 am to 3:15 pm
Saturday & Sunday - 8 am to 3:45 pm

The Recycling Center is closed on every holiday that the Municipal Offices are closed.  Please call the Public Works Department at (609)693-1100, ext. 2301 or this website for updated information and other weather related closings.  It is a violation of the law for any person to drop off or leave recyclable materials at the Recycling Center at any time other than normal hours of operation.  It is a violation of the law for any person to leave any material, except designated recyclable materials at the Recycling Center at any time.  VIOLATORS WILL BE PROSECUTED.

We Accept...

Computer Equipment/Electronics

  • This program accepts the following equipment from Residents only:  Computers and accessories including monitors, central processing units, expansion boards, printers, scanners, fax machines, keyboards & mice, cables, speakers, laptops, laptop peripherals, stereos, CD and DVD players, VCR players and televisions.  Computers are recycled according to state and federal environmental laws; however, it is your responsibility to destroy the hard drive or have the data wiped prior to recycling your computer equipment.  

Paint

  • Full, partially full or empty paint cans, from latex, oil based or boat paint only, from Ocean County Residents (Not Contractors), in one gallon and five gallon containers.  Stains, varnishes, polyurethane or wood preservatives will not be accepted.  
  • Full or partially full aerosol spray pain cans are considered household hazardous waste and should be disposed of on Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day.  

Used Clothing

  • Deposit used clothing in the bins provided.  Proceeds from used clothing benefit the AMVETS organization.

Used Motor Oil & Antifreeze

  • From resident's personal vehicles only.
  • Oil should be in a disposable one gallon container and should be left with the attendant on duty, a maximum of five 1 gallon containers per person.

Used Car/Boat Batteries & Automobile Tires (Residents Only)

  • Up to four (4) passenger car tires per person with rims removed.
  • NO TRUCK TIRES.
  • Businesses are prohibited from disposing of tires at the recycling center.

Shrink Wrap

Single Stream Recycling

  • ALL PAPER - Newspaper, Mixed Paper/Office Paper/Junk Mail, Soft Cover/Paperback Books, Magazines, Empty Brown Paper Bags.  All paper items must be loose, not tied or in bags.
  • HARD COVER AND TEXT BOOKS - Remove the hard covers and throw them away.  Recycle the inside pages along with all other paper. 
  • METAL Cans, Aluminum and Tin, also clean, pie plates and trays (e.g. catering trays)
  • PLASTIC - Empty clean and dry #1, #2, and #5 ONLY - leaving bottle caps on are now acceptable, and Glass bottles or jars (any color). e.g. yogurt containers are a #5.
  • CORRUGATED CARDBOARD - Flattened and loose, NO STRING.
  • CHIPBOARD - Food/Beverage sleeves - eg. cereal boxes, beverage boxes, cookie boxes etc. 
Brush

  • From Residents only.  Nothing larger than 3" in caliber.  (NO trees or tree stumps).
  • Landscapers are prohibited from dumping brush at the Recycling Center. 

Leaves

  • Empty plastic bags into our designated leaf pile.  BRUSH and LEAVES brought to the Recycling Center are processed into mulch that is free to Lacey Residents when available.  

We Cannot Accept:

  • Soiled Pizza Boxes, Plastic Bags, Paper Plates, Trash, Shredded Paper or Styrofoam.
Please make sure none of these items are included with any other paper items that you are bringing into the Recycling Center or placing at Curbside for Collection. 

Household Hazardous Waste

We DO NOT accept household hazardous waste.  Toxic household products such as herbicides, pesticides, household cleaners, paint thinners, pool chemicals, solvents, thermostats, thermometers, and photographic chemicals are some of the hazardous wastes accepted on Household Hazardous Waste Day, a program sponsored by the Ocean County Department of Solid Waste Management and the Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders.  Save these products for disposal only on Household Hazardous Waste Collection Days.  Dates will be published in advance by the County.  Not sure if a product is hazardous?
