PRESS RELEASE

OCC COVID-19 DRIVE THRU TESTING SITE ALL SET FOR BUSY SECOND WEEK

(Toms River) – With the first week of the COVID-19 Drive thru testing site at Ocean County College in the books, public officials are pleased the first day of week two of the operation went off without any hitches.

“Coronavirus testing at the Ocean County College drive thru test site continues to go smoothly even with the increase in daily appointments,” says Daniel Regenye, Ocean County Health Department (OCHD) Public Health Coordinator/Health Officer. “To date we have been able to provide 989 Ocean County residents a COVID 19 test at the college. I appreciate all the agencies from government to health care to volunteers who have come together to assure this test site runs properly and safely.

“I am pleased that with Ocean County Freeholder Director Joe Vicari and the rest of the Board we were able to secure additional tests so we could have appointments this week for our residents, explains Ocean County Freeholder Gerry P. Little, liaison to the Ocean County Board of Health. “The Ocean County Health Department continues to take appointments everyday this week including Friday which is a holiday for many. Everyone working together from the health department, the Ocean County Office of Emergency Management, and hospitals, county government and so many others are helping to make a difference for Ocean County residents during a difficult time.”
The OCHD is reminding residents of the requirements to be tested include:

You must be an Ocean County resident and have identification.
You must have a physician’s prescription
You must make an online appointment at www.ochd.org.
You must be symptomatic.
You should enter the Ocean County College campus from the Hooper Avenue
         entrance.

Health officials also want to remind visitors to the testing site that pets should be left at home unless they are working therapy dogs and proof can be provided.

Regenye adds, “We want to discourage those from coming to the testing site not to bring their pets or domestic animals. Leave them at home where they will be safe and sound when you return.”
