Emergency Management
The Federal Emergency Management Agency recommends that every home have an emergency kit packed and ready for the unexpected. All household members should know where the kit is kept. It is also a good idea to keep a disaster supply kit at work and in vehicles. The key to surviving an emergency is being prepared.
Supplies to place in or near an emergency kit:
- flashlight
- extra batteries
- first-aid kit
- prescription medicines
- toiletries
- a change of clothes
- sleeping bags
- food and water:
- a gallon of water per person per day - canned and dried foods that are easy to store and prepare - don't forget about your pet's needs for food and water
The following is a list of emergency management agencies and organizations and ways to contact them. These organizations offer information about the proper precautions and procedures for emergencies, tips on ways to keep your family safe in an emergency, who to contact for assistance when recovering from an emergency or disaster, as well as ways to get involved in emergency management in your community.
